About the Segment: As cars become more computerized, it’s becoming harder for independent mechanics to conduct repairs where they don’t have full access to a vehicle’s data and software. A private member’s bill is trying to address the problem. We talk to NDP MP Brian Masse; Brian Kingston, president and CEO of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association; and Emily Chung, owner of an automotive repair shop in Markham, Ont., and a professor at Georgian College with the Automotive Business School of Canada.
